Our first survey started on March 29 while the teams were in Orlando and ran for one month. Here are the results!
We had 38 unique respondents: 18 STA family members, 9 NCS family members, 6 STA crew members, 4 NCS crew members, 1 board member and 1 coach.
With respect to the slideshow from Florida, it worked great for 26 people. Seven users were more focused on finding shots of their child. No one complained that their great shot was not used. Two users could not see the slideshow at all. One person noted that it was not visible on the iphone or ipad. (If anyone is aware of a Flickr type hosted solution that will create a slide show visible on Apple products, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We are eager to address that issue.) We had one request for more boy shots (a change from the past!) and one request for more shots of the boats/crews. (We LOVE close ups of kids on the boats, but those are hard to come by. We find distance shots of boats less satisfying, unless they are set to a magnificent sunset or a bird in flight, that kind of thing. However, we'll try to include more boat shots even if the kids aren't that visible.)
With respect to our sponsored links, we have strong support for them (in theory.) Twenty-three people said they were a great idea, and one person wrote in "love them." Three people chose the "crass - offended" option. We have two types of sponsors on our site: Google ads, which pay based on bona fide expressions of interest from our users, and affiliate merchants, which pay based on sales to our users that result from the link on our site. Despite this vote of support for these links, we have not earned much from them so far. Our Google ads have been seen 3516 times (those are called "impressions"), but our users' level of interest in them has generated just $1.13. Similarly, no one has purchased anything yet from Amazon, Endless or any other merchant from our site.
Hopefully, our sponsors will have more opportunity to support us soon. If only we had some sense of what our users want!
Our mighty chaperones from Florida are as selfless as ever. Here's what they would like (and one also would like an iPad!)

Finally, the view of the survey is ...

Thank you all for participating in our first survey, your support of the website, and everything you do for the CCCRC! Go Eagles! Go Bullogs!
